Run a Stall or Pitch

From 12pm to 5pm on Carnival Day there will be stalls and refreshments in the Castle grounds. 

Previous years' feedback from stall holders has been very favourable; see our archive footage.

Please note; there is no vehicle access for stalls on the Island.

Who and how much

There are four types of entry available.  Pitch rates are tiered, with cheaper rates for charity/non-profit-making organisations and for local businesses.

Commercial Organisation

Hertford based business; £50 per pitch

Non Hertford based business; £60 per pitch

Charity or non-profit making organisation pitch

Hertford based; £20 per pitch

Non Hertford based; £25 per pitch

Revenue generated by stalls goes to the stall holders (or as agreed with the Hertford Carnival Committee). 

However please be aware that any charity/bucket collections will go to the selected carnival beneficiaries, and that no other collections will be permitted by any stallholder.

Site Pitch Cancellation Policy

Pitch cancellations must be made in writing several weeks before to receive a full refund on pitch fee paid. Please contact James Turner (see queries).

Cancellations within several weeks of carnival day will result in 100% cancellation charge.

To book a stall or pitch

Note; all information relevant to stall applications is shown on this page of the website, so please ensure you have read it carefully, and print a copy for reference.

Previously, an application form has been made available via the website; this has then been emailed to us, with other necessary documentation being sent by post. This year (again), we ask that you contact us first, c/o;

James Turner

James will inform you of the status of applications for your type of business and, if there is a gap, send you the application form to fill in and list of requirements (eg a cheque made payable to Hertford Town Council and a copy of your public liability insurance).

Stall-holder information will only be used by the Hertford Carnival Committee for the purposes specified and will not be passed to third parties.
